Houston, TX – Impact100 Houston, a local women’s philanthropic organization, is pleased to announce its inaugural Membership Drive has successfully concluded with a total of 187 members. Impact100 Houston will give back $187,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations serving Harris county on November 3, 2021.
Impact100 Houston launched in October 2020 and this is the first year it will be awarding grants to local nonprofits. The mission of Impact100 is to recruit at least 100 women, who each donate $1,000, and collectively grant a minimum of $100,000 to a local charity.
“Raising $187,000 in our inaugural year — almost double our goal — is a testament to the generous and welcoming spirit of Houston,” shares Jessica Graham, president of Impact100 Houston. “With over 60 nonprofit organizations applying for funding, we are thrilled that we will be able to give away more than one grant to help the community.”
The grants will be awarded in five focus areas: Arts & Culture; Education; Environment; Family; and Health & Wellness. Due to the overwhelming response to the Membership Drive, Impact100 Houston will be able to give away a $100,000 grant to the charity that receives the most member votes and grants of at least $21,750 to each of the remaining finalists.
Through Impact100 chapters worldwide, thousands of women have joined together to donate almost $80 million to strengthen their local communities. Houston’s thriving philanthropic community is the ideal location for an Impact100 chapter, and the chapter is committed to serving as a powerful force for good, helping to unite and uplift the city during these challenging times.
